In the Indian imagination, the autumn full moon heralds a season of celebration. The monsoon recedes, the skies clear, and the earth takes on the warm, rich hues of the season. It is the night of the Rāsa Līlā—Krishna’s divine dance with Radha and the gopis, a celebration of love, devotion, and movement beneath the full moon. It is a night where the intoxicating fragrance of rose and jasmine garlands fills the air, jewelled earrings sparkle, flowing silks shimmer in gemstone hues, and anklets chime with every movement.
